~The Winter That NEVER Came~

This has to be the mildest winter Iowa has ever known, and I have loved it!  At the end of January we had 5 days straight of sunny 60 degree weather.  Heaven. The kids were thrilled and we spent as much time as possible outside enjoying the warm happy sunshine.
On January 31st when I picked the kids up from preschool one asked me,
"Mom, is tomorrow the first day of Spring?"
Ummmm, no.  It is the first day of February!  How lucky were we?!
After days of Cordy missing naps to play at the park with friends all afternoon we decided to stay home one day and pull out the new sidewalk chalk I bought last Fall on clearance.  At the rate we have been going through chalk I don't think it's going to last until Spring.  :-)  Eventually Cordy woke up from her nap and came out to draw, play, and explore with us.
I taught the big kids how to play hopscotch, and we introduced Cordy to Duck Duck Goose,  Ring Around the Rosey, Follow the Leader, and Simon Says.  We also worked together to keep her from running down the driveway, into the street to her death.  Crazy little girl.  Tell her to stop and she runs faster!
After 5+ hours outside I finally had to pull the plug on our outdoor fun so I could make some dinner.  Thankfully we had two more days of warm sunshine.  Even with the prospect of cold temperatures returning, I could still smile, knowing this winter will be a short, happy one.
Best Winter EVER!
