In April we were lucky to have a week long visit with one of my favorite people in the whole wide world... Grandma Shannon (though I fondly call her "mom", which the kids find so humorous)! I realized that this was one of the first visits with my mother dearest where Nick was in town, and I wasn't pregnant or recovering from having a baby. She didn't come out because we were in desperate need of help. We just desperately wanted to see her!
Grandma was desperate to get out to Iowa to spend some time with this little lady. Babies grow and change so fast the first year and it was just killing her to be missing it. Cordy warmed right up to her and loved her to pieces. I think the feeling was mutual.
We spent most of the week playing around the house, trying to avoid the rain, but we also made a fantastic trip to the Omaha Zoo! My mom has always loved teaching kids, so the zoo was perfect. Everywhere we went there was something new to discover.
While Nick and I wrangled the other two munchkins around Grandma enjoyed toting the little lady around.
We attempted to take some family pictures at the zoo since Grandma Shannon was there to push the button. Unfortunately the kids were really grumpy. It started out with one, but slowly they all jumped on the grumpy train. As I looked at these pictures I couldn't help but laugh at the three grumpy children, two happy parents, and one fantastic day at the zoo!
We loved having Grandma Shannon come to stay with us. She makes everything so fun and I consider her one of my very best friends and very favorite people in the whole wide world.
Thank you a million times over for coming to visit us, spoiling us with yummy treats and groceries, flying down the slides in Omaha with us, taking us out to Old Chicago, and just all around spoiling us all with love and attention for a week. We love you more than all the amazing butterflies in the butterfly house!
