We definitely rang in the 2012 new year with a bang! Such a bang that the day after we all looked kind of like this...
On New Years Eve we went swimming with the Welch's at their YMCA where the kids had a great time, splashing around, going down slides, and being silly. It was fun to see them in the water again, showing off their ever growing swimming skills. That afternoon we came home and took naps before heading over to the a small party with the Teeds and the Welchs. Pizza, movies, games, fun, and lots of yummy treats took us from early afternoon into the evening, laughing and having a blast. Once kids hit their melting point, we took them home and put them to bed. Nick and I stayed up to ring in the new year, but actually ended up staying up even later cleaning up sick kids. Wow. What a nasty night!
Elyssa some how managed to miss it all, but Cordy had a rough, sick night and Alec was laid out flat for days. It was the sickest I've ever seen the boy. He couldn't even cry or complain or anything. He just laid in bed or on the couch drifting in and out of fitful, feverish sleep. I was pretty worried about him for a few days, but eventually he was able to keep something down and stay awake for significant periods of time. Then there was lots of show watching and we spent the next few days in our pajamas all day looking like this....
Eventually we all got better, and got back into the routine of every day non-holiday life. Nick goes to work. Kids go to preschool. I work out at the gym, clean house, cook dinner, play with kids, do laundry. Repeat. Somewhere in the mix of life (and loading regular groceries in the fridge) I finally took the bottle of bubbly out of the fridge and decided to forgo our New Years Eve feast and celebration. Maybe next year.
Happy New Year!

This is the time of the year when I don't take many pictures and then when I go to do our yearbook I realize I have almost nothing for January or February. The first page I'm certain to have is a picture of Valentine's day. It's fun to get pictures of everyday things at home, but I don't think of it very often. This post reminded me that I should take some before January is gone.
Glad that's over! Glad January has been fairly kind so far.
