~Winter is Here!~

It came!  It finally came.  Not that we were complaining about the unseasonably warm weather we have been having this year in Iowa.  We just knew it was coming eventually and the anticipation was building up.  We were thrilled when we woke up one morning to a frosty, snow covered wonderland.  

 That afternoon while Cordy took a nap the big kids and I bundled up and ventured out into the snow and cold.  Snow angels and foot prints covered my backyard.

 We took the sled out front for some down hill excitement.  The kids were rolling, tumbling, wrestling, and laughing like crazy for a good 45 minutes while I shoveled the walks and driveway.  Everyone that drove by smiled or waved at my silly, happy children, despite the fact that they were complete strangers.  It was a nice reminder of how lucky we are to live in a such a friendly place.

Winter is here, and we welcome her, despite the -15 degree wind chill temps.  We will enjoy her for a few months, but then hopefully she won't overstay her welcome. We are enjoying the pretty snow now but I will always be looking forward to a heavenly green Iowa Spring.  Sigh. :-)
