It was an exciting day for Elyssa. We had been planning her party for weeks!
Elyssa helped me make these pretty invitations and then went with her daddy dearest to deliver them to all her friends. Thankfully all of them could come celebrate! There was palatable excitement in the air as they all arrived in their fancy dress ups on the big day.
After building some magnetile castles, we headed into the dining room for lunch. On the Menu: pink lemonade, heart shaped pb&j, star cheese, crackers, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries. Yummm.
Then we made our way into the living room to listen to "Not All Princesses Wear Pink". Then back to the table to make personalized colorful foam bead necklaces. Back to the living room for a book exchange where everyone got to open a present. So fun! Then they were off on a scavenger hunt, following clue all around the house to find their royal ring pops. :-) By this time everyone was ready for cupcakes and singing.
This left us with about 10 minutes to play whatever we wanted in the basement before our friends royal coaches arrived. It was perfect and exactly what Elyssa wanted.

I didn't get very many pictures from the event and I'm a little sad about that. Elyssa and I had a lot of fun coming up with the decorations, place cards, take home bags, and setting up the table. I'm just not very good at playing hostess and photographer. I can do one or the other, and today I wanted to give my hostess job my complete focus and make it a special day for my big girl. She was thrilled! She loved every minute of her party, and was so excited that I dressed up fancy too. Yay for old bridesmaid costumes that still fit! What a fantastic way to celebrate a fourth birthday.
Happy Birthday, Elyssa Lael!

Jakob is STILL talking about this fantastic party, including looking for pieces of paper that will help him find a treat. Great job!
How utterly adorable. I love that everyone got a present.
I love that you dressed up like a princess, too:-) You're much nicer than I ever was as a mom.
