Thoughts on the film? Funny, cute flick. Meryl Streep is amazing and lived up to her reputation. Amy Adams... cute, but whiny. I get enough pouty whiny cute girl at home with Lyssa Lou. The ending? Personally I felt like it wasn't very creative, but the food and pretty much any scene with Meryl Streep was fun. If you love food I think it's definitely worth a Red Box visit. Knowing we would be hungry after such a film, I planned ahead and invited everyone over for Chocolate Mousse... pretty, yes? It gave me an excuse to break in my fabulous IKEA bowls, and try out this amazing recipe I got from my beautiful, fabulous cooking friend, Nicole... who does not have a blog, but someday when she does hopefully she will put all her recipes and ideas on it so the world can benefit from her delicious gift with food.
Classic Chocolate Mousse
4 Tbsp butter, unsalted
8 oz. chocolate, bitter sweet or semisweet, chopped
5 egg yolks
5 egg whites
2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp sugar
pinch salt
pinch cream of tartar
1/2 c. heavy cream
1. Combine butter and chocolate pieces in a bowl that will eventually hold all the ingredients. Melt chocolate (over simmering water on stove or melt in microwave at 10 intervals, stirring each interval until all chocolate is smooth). Set aside to cool until room temperature.
2. Whip egg whites, salt and cream of tartar until foamy. Sprinkle in sugar and whip until soft peaks form. Set aside.
3. Whip cream until stiff 1-2 minutes. Set aside.
4. Mix egg yolks into chocolate mixture well.
5. Fold a third of egg whites gently into chocolate mixture. Don't worry about getting everything mixed. Repeat with remaining egg whites a third at a time.
6. Fold in whipping cream, mixing just a few times.
7. Spoon or pipe into molds or dessert cups and chill for 4 hours to overnight.
8 Garnish as desired. (I used melted white chocolate and white chocolate dipped raspberries.)
Makes 4-5 servings. Perfect for chocolacation. Enjoy!!!

Holy cow that was so yummy! I can't believe I couldn't finish my dish. And now the recipe will delight many future guests of mine. Thanks!
On a related note, the first google ad was one for chocolate stain remover. I might be needing that soon.
It was delightfully tasty. I'm so glad we are friends . .
So super fun!
I think I may have to copy your idea.... now all I need are some friends. ( :
Want to move here?
Ok now I'm really sad I didn't come over. Thanks for posting the recipe. I might just have to borrow those cute bowls if I ever get around to making some of these myself.
Wow! How many available at the last minute friends came? I wish I wssn't 16 hours away:-) The chocolate mousse looks lovely!
Since I am a binger (in all aspects of my life) by nature, (like many I fill my life plate too full too often) I binge update myself on the blogs I follow, so I will binge comment...I'm not planning on wrinting a book, but I may comment on a couple of posts. The mousse looks so pretty, like a work of art (I should know one of my degrees is in Art History). It should probably be in a magazine. I am amazed with your cullinary skill. Though I sometimes like to bake. I pretty much hate to cook (and I REALLY hate to clean up). If I make food it is usually frozen pizza, burritos or chicken nuggets. I don't even care as long as the mess is minimal. I too crave chocolate and sugar in general. However, I actually get cranky and hard to live with when I eat it; I think I may be allergic to some of my favorite decedent foods. I also know I use these as a crutch when I feel stressed and/or sick. I think I figure I already feel icky inside, so I might as well fuel the fire. It is not the best logic, but it is what I often find myself doing. Because I don't like myself much when I am stressed and/or sick I am trying to phase sugar and chocolate out...though never entirely. I can understand how a lovely new kitchen could move one to tears. There is an amazing sense of gratification when a home project is completed. When our kitchen is finally redone, I will probably cry for a week straight. The photos of your kids kissing are lovely. Did you end up choosing yellow for the kitchen? I am glad that you had such fun visiting friends and family in Utah...Thanks for giving me credit for the genash....
Take care and love you all,
Sara
Well, I just tried to comment and got an error, so this may be shorter. Lucky you. I am a binger by nature (in all aspects of my lifte). I fill my life plate too full (as do many people) so when I update myself on the lives of my friends/and family, it is often in binge form. I will consequently binge respond...sorry. The mousse looks divine, like a work of art (and I should know since one of my majors was Art History). Really, the photos should probably be in a magazine. I am often awe struck by your cullinary endeavors. Though I sometimes enjoy baking. I pretty much hate to cook. It is the mess I hate mostly, but I don't really enjoy the time spent in the kitchen. If I do cook it usually consists of throwing some kind of frozen pizza, chicken nuggets or burritos in the oven really late at night (after the rehearsals and dance classes are over...most nights we don't get home much before 10 or 11, so dinner happens late). I also crave chocolate and sugar in generat. However, it makes me really sick, so I am ttying to phase it out...never entirely, but I am a much happier, nicer person when I feel well. The kitchen looks fabulous! I can really understand how a new kitchen would move one to tears. There is a huge sense of accomplishment in completing any home project. I am sure if we ever can manage to refinish ours that I will cry for at least a week (our counter tops are horriffic and the sink leaks). The kissing photos are so cute. Horray for happy babies. I am glad you had such a great time in Utah. Thanks for giving me credit for the genash....
Take care and love to you all,
Sara
