Strawberry Love

A few weeks ago strawberries started going on sale... and I realized that my favorite time of year is here.  I LOVE almost everything about Spring time from the warmer weather, beautiful leaves and flowers, to the amazing produce that starts popping up on sale everywhere.  I have always been particularly fond of strawberries.  Don't believe me? Ask Nick!  The first birthday I had after Nick and I started dating he gave me a  8 lbs. flat of strawberries for my birthday, and I'm pretty sure I smothered him with kisses.  :-)  I'll eat strawberries on anything, with anything, or all by their lonesome any time their juicy and ripe.
This year the strawberry crops around the country have been rough on the farmers but they have sure been good to me.  A few weeks ago I bought 16 lbs. of strawberries and we ate almost every single one.   I didn't even make jam!  They go with every meal, every snack, and when they're ripe they always make me happy.  For dessert one Family Night we made chocolate covered strawberries.  We all thought they were heavenly!!!
As we finished up Lyssa couldn't resist touching a few.
Alec already knew exactly which one he wanted.
Yummy!
I think this little man ate 4 or 5 strawberries before I had to cut him off.
Nick enjoyed our little dessert as well and just smiled and nodded his head about a fridge full of strawberries.  He knows I'm a little crazy, but he reaps the rewards so he's not one to complain.  :-)  Happy strawberry eating to you and yours!

Do you want to grow your own? My patch is starting to send out runners. We could bring you some at the reunion. (But you would probably have to remind me:)

We ate 20 lbs of strawberries the week they were on sale. They were delicious. I didn't turn a single one of them into jam though.
