While staying up in Island Park, we all made the short drive up to spend a day in Yellowstone. I love this park. I remember growing up and coming here with my family and love the opportunity to show it to my own children, though it can be a long day in the car. The kids appreciated every chance to walk they could get.
The paint pots are always really cool, though some of our kids decided they were pretty stinky.
Nick's attempt at a panorama shot of one of the geysers. Love those big blue skies.
We saw Old Faithful and the kids thought it was awesome how high it shot up in the sky. We also made our way over to see the Upper Falls. Alec really REALLY wanted to do the hike, but the rest of our party wasn't up for it. I promised him next time we go to Yellowstone (maybe next year?) that we would start our day with a good hike, even if it was just the two of us, and then we could meet up with everyone else later on. I'm glad he is excited for hiking adventures with me. :-)
We got stuck in traffic for almost an hour on our way out of the park. We couldn't figure out what was going on. Nick even ran down the road almost an entire mile and still couldn't see what was holding everyone up. Then the buffalo came. We all climbed back in our cars and watched a massive heard of at least 200-300 buffalo walk up the canyon roads. It was awesome and totally worth the wait. Cordy kept saying "Baby Buffalo!" for the next half hour.

Always an adventure in Yellowstone National Park.

I don't think I've ever seen that many bison!
