Alec has been bringing home paper books every weeks since the beginning of the school year. Most of them are memorized during the school week and then he comes home and "reads" them to us. He also started bringing home "baggy books" each week that he is supposed to read to us every night. Each week they are new simple books requiring him to stretch himself, sounding out words and use his new learned reading skills. Though Nick and I enjoy listening to him read it's also fun for the girls to have their big brother read to them.
On this particular night when I came to take a picture he also asked me to take a picture of his bed. He was so proud of the way he arranged his animals.
Then Lyssa sent me into her room to take a picture of her bed animal assembly. I swear it takes them twice as long to make their beds because they sleep with so many animals. I remember doing similar things as a child. In fact, I think there may even be a picture of me surrounded by beautifully arranged animals and dolls on my bed when I was 6 years old. Must run in the genes.
Though Cordy does not make her own bed yet, she still wanted to be in on all the picture taking before heading off to dreamland.

Kindergarten and first grade are such fun grades to teach because you get to see so much progress in the kids' reading skills. What a cool journey Alec is on right now!
I love that Alec reads to the girls!
