Making it to Florida was no small feat with three kids and a pregnant lady, but eventually we did it. We had a very late night arrival and thanks to my dad we stayed at a hotel by the airport before driving down to Key West. It was Alec's birthday and we wanted to do something special on his special day. Just minutes after we arrived he was changed into a swimsuit to head out to do some evening/moonlight kayaking with Grandpa Steve, Nick, and Ryan. Alec decided he wanted to ride with Grandpa and the two of them had a blast.

As much as I would have loved to go, my pregnant body just wasn't up for it. Instead I stayed back at the house with the girls and made dinner, decorated the house with birthday paraphernalia and made special birthday brownies for my sweet six year old. Somehow I don't have a single picture from the evening, but we did enjoy dinner, singing, blowing out birthday candles, and backwards birthday presents. Then Alec slept out on the screened in back porch with Grandpa. Not a bad way to start your seventh year of life. :-)
