One of the things I tell myself these days is "Thank goodness every 5 days there is a weekend!" (a.k.a. Nick gets to stay home and play with us!) Sunday Nick was nice and offered to stay home with the babies so I could at least go to sacrament meeting. I got to take a few minutes and do my hair and put on mascara (which made me feel somewhat normal). I left my two sweet babies peacefully asleep with Nick and went and enjoyed a wonderful sacrament meeting. I zipped home so Nick and I could switch. He is teaching an adult Sunday School class as well as Young Mens right now. As soon as he left of course both babies woke up and wanted attention so I continued working on my "balancing act" for a while until I was exhausted. After a crazy two hours I finally pulled out "Go Dog! Go!" (Alec's current FAVORITE book) I read it to my two sweet babies 3 or 4 times before Nick came home from church. He found us on the couch reading and decided it was a pictures worthy moment.
Later on in the afternoon Alec got really fussy and could not seem to be consoled. He really needed a nap, but would have nothing of it. Nick was holding him and I went to put Elyssa down so I could try and help. Then Alec kept reaching for Elyssa doing the mommy/Alec "hold me" sign. Alec really wanted to hold his sister! We let him hold Elyssa on his lap (with Daddy's help of course) and he was so gentle and kind. He's so proud to be a big brother!
Elyssa is doing really well with tummy time and will spend 20-25 minutes there at time a couple times a day (if I have the time to sit there with her). She is doing very well with picking up her head and turning back and forth. We never did tummy time, or as we called it "Torture Time", with Alec until he was 2 1/2 weeks old and he hated it! We are glad that we started tummy time right away with Elyssa and hope she continues to enjoy it.
Alec has become a stinker about eating lately, but we think it has something to do with the little cold he developed over the weekend. It also might have something to do with his teething. Yes, he's finally teething and about to cut his 4 front top teeth! After a long Sunday of trying to get Alec to eat we finally gave him some cucumbers to chew on, hoping it would help him chill out. Alec decided that they not only feel good on the gums, but make good head wear as well.
We may be tired, but for the most part we are happy and adjusting... what more can I ask for!

SO SO SO Cute... what a great big brother! Chrissy... you look beautiful! I love you so much! -Melis
Chrissy your babies are both adorable. Elyssa is so cute. I can't believe how big Alec is getting. Of course it could just be that he looks so big next to Elyssa. Love the pics. As soon as Chase gets over his cold we want to come over and play. I will gladly give you a break and hold Elyssa.
I am so happy to see you have some time to blog! I can't wait to meet Elyssa in person. I keep hoping to call you but Nora now has a cough, runny nose and a hoarse voice. So hopefully we don't have to wait until Spring until we come see you guys.
