~Green Day 2010~

I felt like someone ran over my head and stomach with a bus, but I knew it was Wednesday.  Playgroup is on Wednesday and we CAN'T miss playgroup.  It's the one day of the week that I can ensure my children will nap well.  After running around in circles and riding bikes full speed back and forth across the gym, my kids nap like angels.  So I climbed out of bed, remembering "Oh, yeah.  It's St. Patrick's Day... must at least dress kids in green."  It didn't take long to convince the kids to wear green shirts and Lyssa even wore her rainbow hoodie for most of the day.  All day long Alec called it "Green Day!"

Lucky Charms were served all around for breakfast.  In hopes that more food would settle my uneasy stomach I helped myself to a second bowl.  Of course the babies wanted more, but I offered them bananas instead.  Alec then asked "Is the baby in your tummy eating the food that you eat?"  I said "Yes, in a round about sort of way."  To which the replied "No fair!  The baby is getting more Lucky Charms!"  Already keeping score and the baby hasn't even been born yet. I'm sure glad though that he recognizes and comprehends that this baby is another little person and important part of our family... one worth keeping score anyway.  :-)

I had the best of intentions to bring my camera to playgroup... but I forgot.  Then I had the best of intentions to take pictures of the kids playing outside, but I forgot.  Then I thought for sure I would get some on our family walk after Nick got home, but in my excitement to get outside and stretch my legs I forgot.  By dinner time the sun was pretty much down (yes, we had a late dinner thanks to our lovely walk, but who can turn down a 60 degree weather family walk???) I realized that not only did I miss the best lighting, but I missed taking pictures of our Green Day.  So I pulled out the camera to get a few shots of our fabulous Green Day green dinner and my cute kiddos.
Breakfast for dinner.  Our favorite!!  Green pancakes, green whipped cream, strawberries (that thankfully were not green), and scrambled green eggs and ham served up on green plates.  The kids were so excited as you can see in this picture of Alec...
but not this picture of Lyssa because, oh wait!  There is no picture of Lyssa because my camera battery died.  Sigh.

All in all though it was a lovely day.  We enjoyed all things green.  We rode bikes and ran around at playgroup.  We ate some much craved pizza with generous friends.  We played outside.  We took a family walk around the neighborhood.  We colored.  We bathed happy babes and read Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss and Good Night Moon by Margaret Wise Brown (In the great GREEN room there was a...).

Then Nick and I enjoyed a quiet evening of Lost while devouring our own little pot of gold, Hagen Daas Mango Sorbet.  Delightful.  Another Happy St. Patrick's Day to go down in the books.
