January in Iowa was very very cold and snowy, leaving us indoors most of the time. Every once in a while it warmed up enough to venture out, bundled up from head to toe. We figure if it feels like more than 20 degrees outside we can play for at least a little while in the great outdoors. Unfortunately most days don't even feel that warm, but the days that it did we sure had fun!
Alec gets to play outside in the snow during recess time at preschool. He now loves to play in the snow.
Elyssa is a great lover of eating snow. We just have to keep reminding her not to eat dirty snow. ;-)
On one special day I bundled up myself and went out to pull the kids on the sled while Cordy took a nap in the house. They had a great time flying around the yard, occasionally falling off into the snow.
It was quite the workout for me running around in shin deep snow with over 50 pounds in tow.
Cordelia spent most of her outdoor time bundled up with blankets and hats in her carseat, quickly moving between the car and the house. Hopefully next year she can enjoy the snow a bit more.
Though January was freezing cold, we did pretty well not going crazy. In large part I think our sanity was due to our 10 day hiatus to Costa Rica at the beginning of the month (which someday I will blog about... I promise!). I also think it made a huge difference that Alec and Elyssa are older and can play out in the snow sometimes.
Despite our love for snow angels, sledding, and snow cakes, we are still super ancy for Spring to come. Baby it's cold outside!
