The good, the bad, and the adorable!

Good or Bad first? We'll start with the bad and end on a happy note.
The bad: My friend, Haylee, told me that bad things happen in three. Well, the first one was poor little Alec breaking his ankle (but you have to admit the boot is cute and the fact that he asks for it and can walk around in it now makes it that much better). The second bad thing was my basement flooding, but thankfully we were able to save the carpet. The third bad thing... was that my windshield on our mini-van got busted last week. Sad sad day.

I was driving the kids up to have lunch with Nick and a construction truck was throwing rocks all over the freeway. When it hit the windshield it was loud and scared me half to death. Then as I kept driving, watching the crack grow across the windshield, I felt almost nauseated as I thought about how much it was going to cost. I called my dad and said "Can I ask you a quick question? How much does a mini-van windshield cost?" He replied "That's a sad question." Estimates came back around $600... yikes... Thank goodness for insurance! All in all I have to say that this month has drained the savings... but at least we're all okay!
The Good: On a happy note, we've discovered that many parks here have wading pools for little kids! They're open every afternoon and they're completely free! Woohoo! Free fun that Alec LOVES is a total win win for me! We get to be outside in the sun, playing with water, exploring... all good things. We've gone a few times (with Nick and with friends) and every time has been a blast. Saturday when we went Alec was standing in the middle (the deepest part of the pool) and lost his hat. He reached over to get it and totally took the plunge. He handled it like a trooper! Every night now he wants to get on his belly and "swim" for us in the bath tub. So cute!
The Adorable: I love watching Alec and Lyssa interact more and more! Alec learns things and almost instantly wants to turn around and teach Lyssa. He always wants to share his food with her (wish I had a video of it... hilarious) and she just adores her big brother. I can only hope they continue to grow close and become the best of friends.

I love that he's trying to blow bubbles! Elyssa looks like she wants to try it, too.
