A few weeks back we took Alec to the zoo for the first time. It was a lot of fun, but I was glad we started with a smaller zoo first. We just went to the local one here in Des Moines and spent a few afternoon hours there with the Sloans. Alec liked the animals, but seemed a little confused as to why they weren't making their noises. Lions are supposed to go "roar"! I hear that if you go earlier in the day the animals are more active. We'll have to try that sometime. 
They had some elephants visiting the zoo for a special exhibit. It was a mommy and a baby and I got all excited because the mommy was the same age as me, and the baby was born only a few days before Alec! I know I'm a nerd. We took a picture, but you can't really see the baby elephant behind us.Alec, walking (these are pre-boot photos) with his buddy, Kamala.
The squirting elephant statue was a big hit for Alec. He loved getting wet!
Elyssa slept for most of the time or looked like this....
