Let Them Eat Cake!

Last Wednesday I officially turned 24. It was a wonderful day thanks to family and friends! My great friend, Hilery, took me to breakfast and then we let the kids play at the play area in the mall. Then the babies and I whisked off to play at the park and have lunch with Daddy! We arrived home to a fabulously decorated door and flowers from Tiffany! I forgot to take a picture, but it was pretty fabulous and I was smiling from ear to ear. By the time we got home it was nap time for babies and since it was my birthday I decided to not clean house. Instead I sat down to a cozy hour of the Food Network. Nick came home early and we were off to get my free birthday ice cream from ColdStone (yummy!) and start collecting things for our Chocolate Cake Tasting! That's right! Let them eat cake!

I've always had fabulous birthday's and this year was no different. I decided that instead of going out to dinner somewhere with the kids or trying to find a babysitter, that I wanted to try chocolate cake from all my favorite resturants. We just did take out and ate at home after putting the babies down to bed! We picked up chocolate cake at.....

The Cheesecake Factory!
P.F. Changs!
Granite City!
And last but hardly least, The Macaroni Grill!
Then we came home, quickly put babies to bed, and headed downstairs to watch "Chocolat" (you simply must eat chocolate while watching this film) and eat our cake!
(notice what perfect timing with the DVD player Nick had in taking that picture! You'd think we did it on purpose!)
After tasting them all we decided that it was too hard to pick a favorite because they're all good for different reasons! So they all "take the cake" for different things:

Granite City's Little Cocolate Cake wins the award for best whipped cream topping and most moist cake... even three days later!

P.F. Chang's Great Wall of Chocolate wins the award for best toppings... the raspberry sauce is to die for and the fudge icing is so rich and yet so smooth.

Macaroni Grill's Chocolate Gnocci Cake is always a win win. It definately wins the award for best bang for your buck! It's by far the cheapest and yet tastes great and stays moist even three days later!

Cheesecake Factory's Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake is rich, oh so smooth in your mouth, and has the best chocolate mouse layers ever!

What a fabulous night! And what fabulous leftovers for four days straight! Just blogging about it makes me want more...
