"Kneel Down"

So I just have to relay a sweet little moment I overheard the other night. Alec woke up around 12:30 screaming something awful. I was having kind of a rough night as it was so Nick volunteered to help Alec out. After the screaming continued for another 20 minutes I decided to go down and see if I could help. To make a long story short, I wasn't much help and after a few attempts Nick sent me back to bed. As I was heading up the stairs, Nick took Alec out to the living room, hoping a change of scenery would calm him down. I heard the following conversation:

Alec: "Pray. Pray." (between big deep shaking breaths)

Nick: "You want to pray? Okay, do you want me to hold you or do you want to kneel down?"

Alec: "Kneel down."

Nick: "Okay. We'll kneel down and say a prayer. Here, I'll say it."

Despite my rotten mood and gloomy disposition at the time, I smiled and wanted to cry... tears of joy and gratitude for my little dude. He is such a perfect example of childlike love and faith in the power of prayer. There are days when Alec randomly asks to kneel down and prayer six or seven times a day, while on other days we can't get him to hold still to bless his food. He's not perfect by any means, but he still never ceases to amaze me with the things he does do so well and how much he comprehends. I have to stop and make note of these moments... You know, when you feel so blessed to have your little ones in your life and you feel like all the work you do trying to teach and love your kids is worth it.

What a sweet tender mercy! We need these little experiences to keep us going on the "not so tender" days :) What a sweet little face!

That is so precious. I'm so happy he already understands the importance of prayer and that Heavenly Father is always their for us. That is def. a proud parent moment. You go girl!
