Last Week's Happenings

So after spending many early mornings and late nights doing this...
Nick took the GMAT! He got the exact score that he was shooting for, about 50 points above the entrance requirements for the graduate programs he's considering. YAY!!!! We're so proud of him for buckling down and having the self control to study on his own and prepare so well for this test. Being out of school for even a few years can get you out of your once good study habits, but Nick was able to jump back in and do what he needed to do. Way to go, Nick! Now we just have to finish up all the applications, essays, and letters of recommendation. :-)
On other news, the kids are both healthy, and mostly happy. Lyssa is sitting up like a pro now and can go from sitting to laying down without hurting herself. Woohoo! She's still working on the sitting herself up bit, but she'll get there (along with the almost crawling... currently she snakes around on her belly everywhere she wants to go.) Since she's sitting up so well she decided that the baby tub is no longer fun. She loves the big tub and Alec doesn't mind sharing most of the time.
Alec is still working on a few teeth, which occasionally seem to bother him. You can always tell it's a hard day when he's drooling and his fingers are in his mouth. The four pointy teeth have all had that initial breakthrough, but the two bottom side teeth are still hiding from the light of day. Hopefully they pop out soon and give my little guy a break.
Lyssa Lou in all her glory has taken a liking to cell phones. She likes to chew on it and taste it, but sometimes I see her holding it up to her ear like Alec does when he's "calling Grandma" ten times a day. I love it!
Despite all the good times, we have our rough days (or sometimes hours) too. Usually by 4:00 pm we're all ready for Nick to come home, and you can often find us out on the swing set in the backyard. Sometimes though, you can find us doing something like the picture above.... Hey, you win some, you lose some, and sometimes you just let the kids sit on you.
