~Have you seen our Mary?~

Knowing fully well the intrigue the kids would have with my nativity sets this holiday season we decided to get them one of their very own as an early Christmas present. They excitedly opened it before bed one night, but had to wait till morning the next day to play with it. I came downstairs to find them happily sharing and playing together with their very own nativity.
Alec's love and fascination wore off after a few hours, but I could see Lyssa was obsessed with the little baby Jesus. She kept trying to carry him around the house, and in an effort to not lose our baby Jesus I would ask "Lyssa where his baby Jesus' mommy, Mary? Can you bring baby Jesus back to his mommy? Every baby needs a mommy." With that she would return him to the stable to be with his mother.

Then one morning I asked Lyssa "Where is Baby Jesus' mommy?" and she replied "I don't know."

I went into the living room to find Mother Mary and show her to Lyssa. Only Mother Mary was not there. In fact, much searching proved that she was no where to be found.

Again, I asked Lyssa "Where is Baby Jesus' mommy, Mary?"

Lyssa (with mischief in her eyes) all knowingly replied "Mary all gone. I be his Mommy."

Then she skipped away, baby Jesus in tow.

Goodness gracious, little girl! Where did you stash Mary?

Though we're sure Mary must be in the house, we still can't seem to find her.

Well, I guess Lyssa solved her problem. :-) I love it when they get creative.

That's really funny, yet also the potential for creepy. I hope Mary is ok, wherever she is hidden!

Check the garbage can.....Benton loves to stash his unwanted clothes, shoes, toys, and Mommy's phone in there!

I love this story so much. I first heard it from Robyn, then from you, and now, reading it for the third time, it STILL cracks me up. I love that little girl.

P.S. We checked out a bunch of your book suggestions from the library--I so heart Fanny's Dream and agree with Becca--it's such a Chrissy book.

It was great to see you today.
