"I don't mind an extra day off work" Nick said into the phone downstairs. I rolled over in my cozy warm bed tucked under my down comforter and smiled. A SNOW DAY! A snow day even for Nick! I think I'm in heaven.

Just like in my favorite winter story, the babies must have done a snow dance yesterday because we are experiencing our first "epic storm, blizzard warning" (weather.com's words, not mine). With temperatures in the negatives, winds up to 40 mph, and snow drifts as deep as 10 feet, everything in the Des Moines area has been cancelled for the day. No work for Nick. No open Mall, meaning no work for Chrissy. No activities planned for the kiddos. Instead it's a day to lounge around in your jammies, sipping cocoa, playing with toys, watching the snow blow everywhere all while listening to "Let it Snow!", "White Christmas" and "Baby It's Cold Outside!"

We've already put these snow boots to good use this year.

I can't get enough of these two this Holiday Season. They are a hoot!
Happy Snow Day!

Yay for days to lay around in your PJs all day long. We just got rain this morning and a little sleet in NJ. It's about to get colder though.
I want to come! I want to come!
We loved our snow day, too. We had 4 foot drifts on our deck and had to shovel the driveway 4 times in 48 hours, but we had power and heat the whole time, so we were blessed. Jakob made cookies with me, and eventually took a nap, and Greg got a little bit of work done from home, but all in all, it was a great snow day.
It was a great day! Thanks to the neighbor for letting me borrow a snowblower for the 3 foot drifts on our driveway! I want more cancelled work days! Fun times - especially the sledding down our driveway into the street with the kids!
