Elyssa's Baby Blessing

While out in Utah we blessed Elyssa in my parents ward in Orem. It used to be our ward before we moved to Iowa, so it really is the closest thing to "going home" that I've had since high school. With parents in the military I would often go home for Christmas and nobody in the ward would know me. In fact, sometimes people were surprised to learn my parents had college age daughters at all. Funny. ANYWAY, we went "home" to Orem to bless Elyssa in church.
Nick blessed her Elyssa Lael Parkinson. She is the namesake baby to Nick's mother, Grandma Lael! It was a sweet blessing and we felt lucky to have so many of our family and friends there in attendance. Elyssa slept through the entire thing (thankfully) and everything went really well.
I think we had Nick, Stuart (Nick's dad), Steve (my dad), Shaun (Nick's brother), Lance (Nick's brother), Cory (my uncle), Brother Brodrick (Bishopric member), and Ed Axley in the circle. (Ed and Ashley Axley are our great friends who used to live two doors down from us. We joke that if we didn't like our families so much, we would leave our children to them in our will. Tehe!) She wore the cutest white dress my grandmother gave her and looked like such a sweet little princess. My friend, Melissa, and my aunt Sabra both tried to take notes from the blessing so I can give them to Elyssa someday. I thought it was very sweet.
After church we all went over to my parent's house for a yummy lunch. Thanks, Mom, for buying all the food and pulling that all together! Thanks "caterers" for helping to get everything set up... didn't you do that at Alec's baby blessing too? :-) Everyone got to hold Elyssa and she handled all the passing around really well. What great times!
Reflecting back, I feel blessed to have a husband who honors his priesthood and is able to give my babies blessings. I feel blessed to have such a sweet little girl join my family. I feel blessed to be the mother of two delightful children who have so much life and love to give! I feel blessed to have so many friends and family that love me and therefore love my little princess, Elyssa, enough to come. Thanks for all your love and support!
