~Idaho Vacation 2011: Logan Temple~

Sundays on vacation are always hard.  Not that our children are always well behaved in our home ward (just ask anyone who sits behind us), but on vacation church is particularly beastly.  This particular Sunday was no exception, so after sacrament meeting with Nick's parents, we went down to Logan to see the temple and do our own little FHE.  Just like every other year, the Logan temple is closed for the month of July.  In fact, the Logan temple is closed any time we come to visit.  Lame.  Anyway, this year I was a little better prepared.
We set up some beach towels and had a picnic, sang songs about the temple, and talked about the importance of the temple.  I even had pictures and stories from the Church History to share with the kids.  I can honestly say that I felt the spirit on that breezy summer morning, sitting outside the temple grounds with my kids.  I couldn't have asked for my lesson to go better.
Then Cordy got a little grumpy.  That's okay.  We just played right along.
After we finished our lesson and lunches, we decided to take a walk around the grounds.  Remember how last year Alec couldn't get his head through the bars?  Well, that boys head has shrunk or we must have found a wider spot...  He was sooooo excited to make it through!  I was glad that the kids were a year older and much more obedient this year... making it much less likely that they would make a break for the temple, leaving us on the other side of the fence.
We walked, we played...
We enjoyed the beautiful views...
And then we decided to load up and head back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to relax and help them get ready for the big family dinner.  As we were loading into the car Nick realized that not a single picture of me had been taken so he snapped this quick shot of us.
Maybe it's not the best or most flattering photo, but it is a good reminder of what a lovely morning we had together, gathered around the temple, talking about Heavenly Father's plan for us and our opportunity to be an eternal family.  Perfect.
