We made our way up to Idaho to vacation with Nick's family for a week, and boy did we have fun! Our first day was a relaxing one at the house where I could put my feet up and Alec and Lyssa could go on a MILLION tractor and 4-wheeler rides with Grandpa and Daddy dearest.
On Sunday the kids were beastly during Sacrament meeting, so we didn't even bother trying to stay for any extra hours. (I don't know about you, but when we're on vacation going to other wards with our kids we get nothing out of the 2nd and 3rd hour of church so we frequently opt out. Call us bad mormons. We don't care.) We decided to take the kids down to the Logan Temple! Seeing as how we don't have any temples less than two hours away from our home, I was excited to talk and walk around the temple grounds and let the kids actually go up and touch the building. Sadly, this was as close as we got.
The temple was closed for cleaning and re-carpeting so they closed the gates to the temple grounds completely. Sigh. It didn't take long before Lyssa and Alec were hanging on the fence posts, being sweet to each other. Time to pull out the camera!!!
Then Lyssa realized that she could completely fit THROUGH the bars! I must admit I panicked for a second as she started running towards the temple. Were we going to have to jump the fence? Alec quickly tried to join her, but found his head to be just a little bit to large. I let out a great big sigh of relief. My kids are much more brave and mischievous together than they are alone and without Alec by her side Lyssa decided not to wander too far from the fence. I must admit, Alec was pretty bugged he couldn't join her. Oh the woes of having a large noggin.
We decided to walk all the way around the temple grounds, checking out the temple from every angle. The kids had a blast and we snapped a few more cute pictures here and there.
This one is my favorite from the day. A picture of my two favorite (and handsome) boys in the whole wide world.
Eventually we plopped down and ate some snacks, sang some songs, and talked about the importance temples before heading back to Grandma's house. Certainly a Sunday appropriate activity if you ask me, and a lovely time had by all.

Ah, yes, big brothers with big noggins. We know how that goes around here too.
How fun for Lyssa! Thank goodness Alec's head saved you all some trouble!
