I have two fearless waterbabies... and while we were in Utah my two lucky kiddos went swimming practically every other day.
I've joked with people that Lyssa acts like she's on crack when she's at the swimming pool... and honestly it's not that far from the truth. Get that lady around a little chlorine and she turns into a crazy person, ready to dive or run into the deep end as fast as she can. Try to save her from drowning and she will probably scream at you and try to push you away. She requires constant supervision by at least one adult... and as fast as she moves it's probably better to have two. Lucky for us there was always at least 4-6 adults with us every time we went swimming!
Alec got a taste of underwater swimming during swimming lessons this summer and now that is all he wants to do. The boy comes up for less than 3 seconds and then he's back under the water again, diving down to the bottom, figuring out new ways to come back up. Though it's nerve racking for his mother dearest, I think it's really impressive. He just can't help explore the underwater world. (Aren't these pictures cool? They're courtesy of Erin and Ryan's underwater camera, which was Alec's favorite diving toy.)
Everyone had fun taking turns passing the kiddos around, trying to teach them how to swim ("Make an arrow Lyssa!" "Alright, Alec. Put your face in and remember 'arrow out tummy'!") , and playing games all while watching the little ones like a hawk.
Alec is pretty much ready to dive into the pool the first chance he gets and makes you stand waaaaaay far back before he will jump to you. Most of the time he touches the very bottom before he wants to come back up for air.
Every time we went swimming we really did have soooooo much fun.
Even in the hot, dry, sunny Utah desert eventually the wind would pick up enough that we would get cold and tired and call it a day.
A wonderful day.
My sincere thanks goes out to Grandma Shannon, Grandpa Steve, Robert, Michael, Erin and Ryan who countless times saved Lyssa's life while we were at the pool. We can't wait to go swimming with all of you again in January!

I love that collage of Alec underwater. It makes me want to have kids. :-)
Bring back those sunny days!
