~The Creative Juices Flowing~

Nick surprised me with a fabulous date night a few weeks ago.  We dropped off the kids with a friend, and in our jammies (per Nick's suggestion) headed out.  We pulled into a furniture store parking lot and Nick informed me that we would be trying out different bed for our date.  I was stunned, and said "Are you kidding me?  We just bought a bed two years ago!"  He laughed and kept driving to the other side of the parking lot connected to a strip mall.  Tucked away in the middle of the line of shops was Glazed Expressions.

Turns out Friday night is Pajama Party Night, meaning if you are brave enough to wear your PJs they wave your $8 studio fee.  Smart man, always trying to save money.  Together we designed and painted this beautiful bowl.
I love that we can work on projects like this together, creating something fun, unique, and memorable.  Last summer we made the square bowl below together at a similar pottery painting studio in Utah. I actually bought the two plates at DI (the Utah equivalent to Goodwill) shortly after we were married, and thought they were fun and cheery to go along with the hand-painted sunflower dishes Nick's parents gave us for our wedding.
I love that we have been able to add to our set of unique, funky serving pieces.  I love that we got to spend the uninterrupted time together, using a different part of our brains requiring our creative juices to work together to make something special. I love that every time we use these pieces at family dinners, dinner parties, and ladies brunches that we get a little reminder of the fun we have together being creative.
And I love that it was all his idea.
Thanks, Mr. Blue Eyes, for always loving me!

Love it! It really is beautiful. If Chad and I attempted that...it'd never turn out.

Will you make me one? I painted pottery once but the colors were never even, you'll have to teach me how one day!
