~Projects Completed~

Memorial Day weekend brought on the conclusion of some long awaited house projects.

Nick brought home some old 5 gallon buckets from work, and we planted some tomatoes and a zucchini plant.  We still need to go pick up some tomato cages, but we're really excited about our experiment, growing vegetables in buckets.  Nick was totally stoked about getting to use drill bits he's never used before to put holes in the bottom of the buckets.  I'm just excited to see if the plants actually grow, if the natural wildlife leaves them alone, and if they really will get enough sun on the side of the house.
We also concluded our long time project of painting the deck.  It was in much need of repair, as you can see from our before and after photos.  The color isn't exactly the same, but it's closer to the trim on the house and I like it.  It's sealed so tight now that when it rains water bubbles form all over because it can't soak into the wood.  Perfect.

I also finally finished my bistro table!  I bought this at an estate sale last Fall for $15.  I saw all sorts of hidden potential.
Before...
After!
Turns out we aren't the first people to see the hidden potential in this set.  When we were taking the seat apart I found a tag dating this back to the 1930s, and we found not one layer of seat cover, but two.  Originally this little table was pink with vinyl baby pink and white poka dot seat covers.  Now it's a shiny black, with multi-striped outdoor fabric seat covers and I love how it all turned out.

I'm so excited to put this on my deck and use it for family dinners on summer evenings, breakfasts with babies in the early morning light, or brunches with friends in the shade of our massive backyard tree while little ones play on the lawn.  So much potential... now if only the rain would stop.  Pretty please?

The deck looks great & your table set is too cute! I can't wait to get my hands on projects like these once we move into the new house.

You are too talented! Your little table is so cute. I don't have a creative stitch in me, so I never have any vision when I see something old and worn. I'm so impressed.

And as for your last post, about baby Spencer, I was already meaning to ask you. Would you take Owen's pictures? I hate to go somewhere and pay for marginal pictures. I'll still pay you, but I feel like the chance for sucess would be better. I'll be coming into town next week. I'll call or email and see if you're interested and available.
