On December 27th, 2009 Alec woke up to a room full of balloons!

He knew it was his 3rd birthday, but he had no clue how fun it was going to be!
Since Alec's birthday was on a Sunday, the day before Nick and I took Alec out to lunch at McDonalds, while Lyssa stayed home with Grandma. Alec and I laughed as we talked about the last year and how much he had grown up. Then we took him out to buy presents for everyone else (since we do backwards birthdays and all). It was lots of fun, but Alec was also really excited to get home and play with Grandma. I asked him what kind of cake he wanted... and though I offered to make a car cake he insisted on chocolate cake with blueberries and strawberries... Yes, Alec is surely his mother's son. So excited to be 3 and absolutely in LOVE with his cake!

Really, he has grown up so much in the last year. The time goes by so fast.
After a yummy birthday dinner, Alec went around and gave everyone their gifts, a rocking chair he made with Daddy for Lyssa, a bathrobe for Mommy, a belt for Daddy, and candy bars for his aunties, uncles, and grandparents. He helped wrap them all and write everyone's name on their present. He was very excited to give them out. Then we went around in a circle and each told Alec something we loved about him. He would stand in front of you, listen intently, and then give hugs and say "thank you" and "Your welcome for the treat!" Then he would move onto the next person, waiting for them to say something nice about him. It was so sweet!

I tried and tried to get the little man to look at the camera and make a normal face, but he was not in the mood. That goofy boy just wanted to sing himself silly.
Happy Birthday, my dear little Alec.
With so many people around to spoil you with attention and love you to bits,
I'm sure it was a wonderful day!
