~Christmas Day 2009~

Christmas morning the kids slept in until almost 8:30. My parents arrived at 8 AM, just incase the kids got up early, but really everyone seemed to want to sleep in a bit. Once everyone was up though it didn't take long to get excited about the presents!

We started with stockings and large gifts from Santa. Alec got a work bench and a tool kit. Lyssa got a washer and dryer and a tea set. They loved them both, but were very excited to open the mounds of presents all over the room. Before we jumped into any of that though...

we had Christmas morning breakfast! Blueberry strussel muffins (a Nick tradition) scrambled eggs, and Simply Orange. Yummm! Everyone has to be done eating and everything must be cleaned up before we can start on opening more presents.

Then it was back into the living room, where Erin became Santa handing out presents one by one. We all take turns, from youngest to oldest opening presents one by one so everyone can ooohhh and ahhhh over what you open. Lots of fun, but with 9 adults and 2 kids you can only imagine that the little people get quite restless waiting for their turn again.

Lyssa and Alec were really excited about some of their presents. Alec was bursting with joy when he opened his Buzz Light Year, Woody, and Rocket from Grandma Lael and Grandpa Stuart. Lyssa was tickled pink to open another Cinderella. They both got to work right away cutting up play fruit and veggies from Grandma Shannon and Grandpa Steve.

With so many new toys, so much excitement, and so much time spent opening presents, we eventually adjourned for lunch and nap time. Once the kids were up we continued our present fest, ending sometime around 5:30. As you can see, Alec was happy, but exhausted!

No one got dressed that day, except for my parents. We spent the rest of the day feasting on goodies and salmon, playing with toys, watching a movie, and playing a million rounds of "Celebrity". Many laughs and good times were had by all.
What a wonderful day!
