My kids find such joy in simple pleasures, such as using scissors. Now maybe you let your kids use scissors whenever they want, but scissors only come out on special occasions at our house. I'm just not patient enough to watch them constantly and I can guarantee my munchkins would start cutting hair, furniture, toys, books, clothes... you name it.
Once for a Tuesday Activity I pulled a bunch of extras scraps of paper and let the kiddos got to down.
They had so much fun making big shapes and little shapes, cutting papers of different colors, weights and textures.
Alec has pretty much already mastered the art of holding scissors properly but it was still a newer skill for Elyssa. She was so proud of herself when she finally got the hang of it!
After they were done cutting to their hearts content I collected all the little scraps and put them in a plastic bag for safe keeping. Then later on in the day we pulled out some big pieces of construction paper and glue sticks and made designs with our cut out scraps.
It was nothing amazing or all that original, but entertaining and educational for the kids!
