~The Perfect Basement Tree~

Sammy Lee came to town the second weekend of December and we were delighted to see her. The babies loved having her around for a few days, and when she left Nick and I were both stunned to realize that neither of us had changed Lyssa's diaper the entire time she was here. Now if that isn't true friendship, I don't know what is. :-) Sammy had fun watching the babies meet Santa for the first time, playing, reading stories, and helping us pick out the perfect tree for our basement. We thought it would be fun for the kids to have a tree of their very own to decorate.

Searching for the perfect tree.
Lyssa is standing in for a tree that someone else bought. You could call her the "Littlest Christmas Tree". Did anyone else do that play in grade school? I was in first grade and so badly wanted to play the part of the littlest Christmas Tree but was sadly cast as "Grounchy Tree 3". It was devastating. Funny the things we remember.
Alec thinks he found the perfect tree.
Lyssa played tag with Sammy while the rest of us debated trees.
Alec was so proud of our little 4 foot tree tied to the roof of our car.
The saddest news of all is that I never ONCE took a picture of our little tree all decorated, but believe me when I say we had a fun time with it. Nick made a paper chain with the kids one night while I was at work. We all decorated wooden ornaments with markers and glitter glue, and covered the tree in multi colored lights. It smelled delightful and shed like crazy. I can't show you a picture, but I can tell you it was lovely. Sigh.

Yes! I was the runt of our first grade class so I got to be the littlest Christmas tree. Thank you for the fun reminder of an almost-lost memory!
