On August 31st our baby girl woke up to an excited brother and sister and a room full of balloons. She may not have know what was going on, but she sure was excited too!
Nick and I decorated the house the night before and I made a fantastic birthday girl crown for our little lady. I also tried to get things cleaned up around the house so I wouldn't have to spend her special day cleaning and busy all day. It made for a much more relaxed time the next day! We ended up having a nice day, playing at home, relaxing, and taking much needed 1 year old naps. I also managed to make the second layer to Cordy's birthday cake. After dinner we invited a few friends over and had cake! Cordy enjoyed the singing and appreciated Nick's help blowing out her candle.
I made a special cupcake for Cordy so she could devour her own special treat at her leisure. She was a little apprehensive at first...

but once she really got into it she enjoyed her lemon raspberry cupcake and had a great time!
I got the recipe for this yummy cake from Deceptively Delicious, which skillfully puts vegetables in everything. Though I enjoyed the cake, it was very rich and very heavy. I think it does better as a cupcake recipe so you have smaller portions.
The night ended with VIP all around and backwards birthday gifts. The kids were very excited about their gifts and smothered Cordy in thank you hugs and kisses. I actually helped Cordy find Lyssa's princess dress-up for a steal of a deal at a garage sale.
After songs, snuggles, and stories, Cordy head off to dreamland, happy as can be. We are so thankful for our little Cordy baby.
Happy Birthday, little one!
