Ten days after I waved goodbye to my parents, I once again set out on another adventure. Only this time it was an adventure sans all my little people. I took the new Frontier Des Moines to Provo, Utah flight where my mom picked me up. I slept for a few hours at her house and they we piled into the car and drove up to Boise, Idaho for the Sisters Reunion!
My mother is the fifth of six sisters (and two brothers... but as far as the sisters reunion they aren't invited, but their wives are when they can come). They are all amazing, unique, strong, intelligent, and very different from each other all at the same time. They love and support each other through thick and thin. They have frequently been spread out all across the United States (and sometimes even the world) but they still manage to stay close. I'm not sure what brought about the Sisters Reunion tradition, but it is a regular thing and it is awesome.
I particularly like that as an adult woman, and member of this crazy family, that I too am invited to participate in the craziness. These woman are a powerhouse of knowledge. I spend a lot of time listening when I'm around them and very little time talking. Sometimes I don't even get their jokes and don't feel like I have much to contribute to the conversation due to my lack of knowledge, but I enjoy my time with them. I feel their love and support. I glean from their "sister power". Everybody needs sister power.
So what happens at these events? Well, it varies from year to year, but this year we had some serious Karaoke where my cousin, Carly, rocked the house more than once...
A visit to the farmers market, where a reunion mascot was purchased...
A fantastic shopping trip to DI and Savers (where I made off like a bandit in their dress shoe department)....
Pillow fights, dancing, laughing, talking, and usually a visit to some sort of Shakespearean event... this year it was 80's version of Taming of the Shrew. It was awesome.
The way this weekends usually work out, someone is coming and someone is going constantly but for a few waking moments on the last day all the sisters were there together at the same time so we woke them all up and got some pictures of these fabulous ladies.
Thanks for a fantastic time, ladies. I didn't sleep near enough, but may have eaten my weight in chocolate. Tarla, Heidi, Sabra, Becca, Mom, and Bonnie... thanks for always loving me, always believing in me, and always supporting me in the good things that I try to do with my life. It means more to me than you'll probably ever know.

It was such fun...and I totally look so HOT that early in the AM. Sorry that Poppy could not resist your make-up. I hope you have replaced it.
Sister power rocks!
