What do you do when your kids are whining about everything, refusing to eat dinner, and grumpy as can be? To be completely honest, I usually just send them to timeout. This time they were lucky. Nick was home, and seeing as he is the nicer parent in our family, he took a different approach and turned his finger into a pirate... which somehow got the kids laughing so hard that Alec got over his grumpiness and ate dinner!
After they were finished eating EVERYONE wanted a finger pirate and Nick was happy to oblige.
Nick is always very nice and very helpful, but to be completely honest, I think he was trying extra hard this day. Earlier that day I found out that Cordelia had contracted Hand Foot and Mouth disease, a highly contagious virius, and I had to miss visiting with one of my very dear friends who was only in town for that day.
We would be in quarantine for the next week.
Oh, and Nick was leaving the next morning on a 10 day adventure in China.
Without me.
Lame.
I'm so thankful for a husband who sees when things are hard and tries his best to lift all our spirits.
The kids and I are pretty lucky to have him.

What does he do for work, that would take him to China?
Very creative. :-)
Heather, He works for Pioneer Hi-Bred and is currently doing some "Asset Footprint" work for Dupont there.
Love it! So creative.
Don't you feel like it's sometimes unfair that dad gets to be the fun, creative parent? Sometimes Chad comes home with some great idea like this one, and I feel like, "Yeah, if I hadn't jsut spent 10 hours with these kids, I might be able to come up with something fun, too!"
I love the pirate fingers!
Wow...it took me a while to research the 3 main words to figure out what he might be doing. Sounds awesome and exciting!!
