I was home from our great adventures in Utah and Idaho for a mere 10 days before heading out again. Only this time I was heading south. My parents flew out to Iowa so my mom could stay with Alec and Elyssa while my Dad and I drove down to Oklahoma to see my Grammie (my dear great grandma) and introduce her to her namesake grandbaby, Cordelia Margaret. (Hence some of my extended family started calling Cordy "Maggie".) At the last minute Nick decided to take time off work and come along too. Let me tell you that after the crazy drives we did out to NYC and Utah, the mere 9 hours south with THREE drivers and only ONE really easy-going child was a piece of cake. That is the way to travel!
My beautiful Grammie is 92 years old. She has lived through so much. She has endured so much. She has lived a beautiful life. She has always been an example to me of a strong, brave, tough, beautiful woman... someone I want to emulate. I absolutely adore her.
Everything and everyone loves Grammie. Babies always love her, children lover her, and animals love her. She is an animal whisperer. Once she made friends with a squirrel in her yard and even painted it's nails! She has always had cats and dogs that love and adore her. Her sweet dog and her cats swarmed at the sight of her, circling round and around, despite the fact that their were three other adults in the yard. They were jealous she was holding Cordy. Cordelia sure enjoyed the show.
It was blazing dry hot outside in Oklahoma at around 120 degrees, so we didn't take too many pictures but we did get this generational beauty: Grammie, my Dad, me, and sweet baby Cordy. It may not be a complete five generational photo, but I still think this picture is very sweet.
As long as I can remember I have known that my Grammie loved me and I loved her right back. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to visit with her and introduce my sweet Cordelia to her.
Thank you, Mom and Dad, for helping to make this happen. It meant so much to me. I love you!
